Breakdance Battle Rules : 

• Physical contact in battles will not be tolerated and may result in a disqualification or a score deduction for the dancer or dancers involved.
• Inappropriate sexual gestures are not advised.
• There are five criteria:
  • Vocabulary The arsenal of moves that the B-Boys and B-Girls bring to the dancefloor.
  • Technique The ability to perform complex and challenging sequences of moves. Participants are evaluated based on their ability to execute demanding combinations with skill and precision.
  • Execution Performing moves in a clean and secure way, without messing up.
  • Originality How well a breaker expresses their personality through their dance.
  • Musicality Participants are judged on their ability to dance in sync with the music. They should demonstrate an understanding of the music and effectively incorporate it into their dance, timing their moves with the rhythm.

This year, we’re continuing the focus on Hip Hop, civic engagement, and activism by incorporating Hip Hop element battles in MCing, graffiti, and breakdancing. Battle participants will compete for 1st ($500 gift card), 2nd ($300 gift card), and 3rd ($100 gift card) place prizes in each category. Each battle will have three judges, who are masters of their respective Hip Hop elements. Judges will be announced soon.
