Celebrate! Pyxis at the Holidays

Thursday, December 9 | 8pm

For their 13th season, Pyxis returns as the Museum’s classical ensemble in residence! This year Luigi Mazzocchi (violin), Jennifer Jie Jin (cello), and Hiroko Yamazaki (piano) will play as a trio in Fusco Hall, exploring the wealth of classical and contemporary piano trio literature. The concert includes instrumental versions of Gustav Holst’s In the Bleak Midwinter and Mel Torme’s beloved contemporary standard The Christmas Song, as well as the witty Café Music (1987) by American composer Paul Schoenfeld and the brilliant, lively mid-20th century Cuatro Estacionas Porteñas (The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires) by Astor Piazzolla. And as always, surrounding them – and you – will be the artwork and newly installed galleries that inspire this beautiful music both old and new. Join us for this joyous start to your holiday season!
