Celebrate! Pyxis at the Holidays
Pyxis Piano Trio 15th Season in Residence
Luigi Mazzocchi, violin / Jennifer Jie Jin cello / Hiroko Yamazaki, piano

This year, Pyxis Piano Trio returns for their 15th and final season as the Museum’s classical ensemble in residence.

Since 2009, Pyxis has delivered inspiring chamber music in conversation with the Museum’s extraordinary visual art. From their very first concerts, the group has uplifted and delighted audiences, and these concerts again feature the artistry of Luigi Mazzocchi (violin), Jennifer Jie Jin (cello), and Hiroko Yamazaki (piano). Join us for an exceptionally exciting final season!

Drawn from the rich piano trio repertoire, concerts will be on two Wednesday evenings – December 6, 2023, and February 28, 2024. As always, you’ll be surrounded by the art that inspires their beautiful music, old and new.

Pyxis plays holiday favorites, including a solo violin treat and selections from Tchaikovsky’s "The Nutcracker". And in conversation with the Museum’s groundbreaking exhibition "The Rossettis", the ensemble offers Felix Mendelssohn’s elegant Piano Trio. Though their lives and work did not directly intersect, the composer and the Pre-Raphaelites were both inspired and uplifted by the beauty of the natural world.
