PAINTING

This event is no longer on sale.

Thursday January 11

6:00 PM  –  8:00 PM

Using either still life set-ups or photographs, students will focus on composition and value before applying color. Learn to block in large flat shapes of color, usually starting with the darkest colors first and using a limited palette which will then give paintings harmony and the artist a cohesive body of work.

Materials:
•  Stretched canvas any size but preferably small

Burnt Sienna or any medium gray acrylic paint to tone the canvas

•  Large house paint brush

•  Disposable oil paint paper palette

•  Gamsol or odorless mineral spirits with a container to put it into
(I prefer a stainless steel brush cleaner)

•  Paper towels

•  Oil paint (cadmium red light, ultramarine blue, cadmium yellow medium,
ivory black, titanium white) and all other paint you might have.

•  Small piece of thin cardboard or heave card stock) and scissors to make a
   view finder.

•  Any or all brushes and palette knives you might have
