From line to shape, from light to shadow, this class will use oil and soft pastels, conte crayon, charcoal for portraits, and will incorporate art history copies.

Practice basic drawing techniques. Gesture, contour, quality of line, composition, form, and perspective will be emphasized.

Beginner students should bring:    

18" x 24" drawing paper tablet    

sketchbook    

sketching set (includes soft vine charcoal, compressed charcoal, conte, graphite pencils, white plastic eraser, kneaded eraser, pencil sharpener)    

chamois cloth or cotton rag    

workable spray fixative (optional)
